1970s Purple Hand Made Josefa Dress
Worn by the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, Sofia Loren, Diana Ross, and Loretta Young, Josefa Ibarra has been called the “mother of Mexican fashion design.” Her incredible caftan style pieces are like wearable works of art. Her designs were never mass produced and all were made by hand in Mexico.
The era of this dress is late 60’s, early 70s and features a brilliant, hand dyed purple design with hot pink ribbon sewn into the dress, gold colored coins dangling throughout, and orange and yellow embroidered elements on front and back. It is unlined with a v-neck. Made from woven cotton with natural variations, this stunner is one of a kind.
