Dramatic 1960s I. Magnin Hand Beaded Dress
Where do I begin? This is a one-of-a-kind dress from I. Magnin & Co, circa 1980s that is all kinds of drama. Let’s start with I. Magnin, a historic, luxury department store that started in San Francisco, opened in the late 1800s and eventually closed all shops in the 1990s. The store was legendary for selling fabulous frocks.
Now let’s chat about this spectacular 1060s hand-beaded dress. First, it is pretty hefty, coming in at a little over three pounds. It is exceptionally well made with hand-sewn beading from head to toe. This piece is fully lined with a back zipper closure and semi-bell sleeves that hit just above the wrist. The draping of this dress can hang loose or tight, depending on your size.
Know that there are a few missing beads that are difficult to notice because of the multitude of beading, so please keep this in mind when considering purchasing this magnificent dress. Also, some beads may need cleaning and/or reinforcement.
